The local photo club at Lake Oconee, APLO, meets every 4th Thursday in the lower community room at Peoples Bank across from the pyramid (991 Lake Oconee Parkway, Eatonton). The club is open to the public and if you have an interest in learning more about photography or just hanging out with others who enjoy photography, then come check us out. We have a speaker each month and try to alternate between outside speakers (often professional photographers) and member presentations. We also have a monthly photo challenge where each member shares their photos on the monthly topic with the club. We review and critique these photos. We also do field trips together and have social activities. Our membership is made up of professionals, semiprofessionals, beginners and everything in between. The thing that we all have in common is a love of photography.
In July we went on a field trip to Macon and photographed the St. Joseph Catholic Church and The Grand. I especially like this photo of a stained glass window in the St. Joseph Catholic church. This was taken by John Cotten of the photo club. John was attracted to this particular window because he is a church musician, and in the Catholic tradition, Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians. John used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II full-frame digital camera with a Tamron 28-300mm lens, zoomed in to 236mm. The exposure was 1/100thsec, aperture 7.1, and ISO 500.
