The local APLO Photo Club meets once per month on the fourth Thursday evening in the lower community room at the Lake Oconee Peoples Bank. Each month, they have a slideshow with member photographs of a pre-selected subject or technique. Members vary from semi-professionals to amateurs with point-and-shoot cameras or smartphones. What they have in common is that they enjoy taking pictures and sharing them at a casual get-together.
For the November meeting, it was decided to show a video instruction DVD as a refresher on the basics of photography. The video was from Mr. Karl Taylor, who is a well-known photographer and instructor. Visit Mr. Taylor’s website at www.KarlTaylorEducation.com. The title of the DVD shown was Photography Essentials: Getting the Most from Your DSLR.Although the emphasis was on using a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera, the principles discussed apply to using any camera, including compact and cell phone cameras.
