Vincent Van Gogh once said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together”, and on December 9th, a great thing happened. Thanks to the efforts of 34 dedicated committee members, five generous homeowners, 42 Foundation sponsors, 57 local business sponsors, 43 individual donors, hundreds of volunteers, and over 700 patrons, The Georgia Club Foundation presented yet another successful Christmas Tour of Homes. The months spent planning, strategizing, and preparing culminated in a day full of holiday cheer. While guests awaited their start time, they were entertained by noted local pianist Brenda Fleeman, while perusing (and a lucky few, winning!) a generous collection of silent auction items. From there, the devoted transportation volunteers escorted the patrons through The Georgia Club neighborhoods to the five unique, impeccably adorned homes that graced the Tour. The Tour concluded with a stop at Village Hall for the inaugural Holiday Gift Market. Fifteen local vendors had a chance to highlight their unique goods and services – from painting and photography to home décor and food gifts, jewelry to candles, and so much more.
The combined undertaking of so many devoted individuals and businesses resulted in over $36,000 raised on behalf of this year’s beneficiaries: St. Mary’s Hospice and Tree House, Inc. The direct impact these funds will have on our immediate and extended community cannot be overstated. Despite unrelenting rains and brisk winds, the collective parties involved never lost sight of our goals, resulting in exceeded expectations for our beyond-worthy causes. The Georgia Club Foundation once again would like to extend its warmest regards to the unwavering support from The Georgia Club and everyone else involved in making this biannual event a continued success! We look forward to collaborating once again with our supportive community for another jubilant Tour in December 2020!
